Gulf and Europe meet in Abu Dhabi

Every year foreign ministers and officials from the Gulf Cooperation Council and the European Union meet. This time the UAE foreign minister hosted the gathering in Abu Dhabi. The meeting concluded with a joint communique in which the two regional groupings express their common views on a number of foreign policy issues in the Gulf region. The Dutch delegation was led by Mr Gilles Plug of the Foreign Affairs Ministry in The Hague. For Mr Plug the meeting was a ‘home match’, as he is the former ambassador to the UAE.
